Simon Cowell's new Netflix show debuts very soon, revealing the real-life inspiration behind an unforgettable One Direction song.
Iconic music producer and star of Britain's and America's Got Talent Simon Cowell is returning to the small screen tomorrow, Wednesday, December 10, on Netflix.
This time around, fans get to see the whole process from the very beginning, from Simon hosting open calls to welcoming potential band members to America to fight for their place in the band.
To help him put the new boyband together, the 66-year-old enlisted the help of some of his most trusted allies, including former Pop Idol judge Peter Waterman and singer songwriter Kamille.
But it's the presence of songwriter and music producer Savan Koetcha that really catches viewers' attention, having achieved more than 102 billion streams.
"Simon gave me my first big break as a songwriter", Savan explained.
"And so, since then, we've worked very closely on a lot of stuff."
Simon commented: "And also you gave us the first hit for One Direction, What Makes You Beautiful."
Explaining the song's provenance, Savan then added: "It was written about my wife. So there you go. True story."
Savan has been married to wife Anna Gustavsson, who he shares two sons with, since 2009 and has previously opened up about her being the inspiration for the iconic One Direction song.
Taking to Instagram two years ago, Savan shared: "I figured I would write a little something in celebration of What makes you beautiful hitting a billion streams on Spotify.
"In the past, I may have taken something like this for granted, but I (thankfully) don't anymore. This song means so much to me for several reasons."
He went on to say: "My two boys know this song is about their mother. It makes me so emotional to know that they can see/feel/hear millions (now billions) of people listen to a song about how beautiful and wonderful their mom is. I think she's starting to like it now too."
