YouTube Shorts Monetization New Rules: If you create YouTube Shorts, you should know how many subscribers and views you need to start earning money. YouTube has clarified the rules for monetizing Shorts, but the biggest question is how many subscribers are needed to start earning from Shorts. Under the new monetization model, even small creators can earn money, but fulfilling the conditions is necessary. Earnings are distributed based on ad revenue, music usage, and original content.

YPP is necessary to start earning
Earning from Shorts doesn't directly depend on subscribers, but rather on being included in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). To be included in YPP, the condition of 1,000 subscribers and 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days applies. This means that simply increasing subscribers doesn't guarantee earnings; real views and engagement on Shorts are essential.

Accepting the Shorts monetization module is necessary
Revenue sharing for Shorts will only apply when the creator accepts the Shorts monetization module. Only views received after accepting the module are included in revenue sharing. Previous views are not counted. This rule applies to both advertisements and YouTube Premium.

How and on which videos is revenue earned?
Revenue is only earned on Shorts that are original and ad-friendly. Shorts that use clips from other platforms or artificially inflate views using bots are not eligible for revenue. If music is used in the video, the revenue is shared between the creator and the music license holder.

Understand the complete revenue sharing and payment formula
The money from Shorts ads is first deposited into a creator pool. After that, each creator's share is determined based on their proportion of views. 45% of the total revenue goes directly to the creator. If music is used, the music license holder's share is deducted separately. Creators also receive 45% of the earnings from YouTube Premium views.
