Nikhil Chaudhary was incorrectly classified as an Indian player
Delhi-born Nikhil Chaudhury who once played domestic cricket for Punjab alongside Abhishek Sharma Arshdeep Singh and even Shubman Gill last appeared in Indian domestic cricket almost six years ago. During the Covid pandemic he was stranded in Australia while visiting his uncle and eventually decided to restart his cricket career there.
After years of hard work and paitence he was picked in Australias domestic system and earlier this month became the first Indian-born cricketer to score a Sheffield Shield century doing so for Tasmania.
Chaudhury has also played in multiple overseas white-ball leagues including the Global Super League Max60 Caribbean and Abu Dhabi T10. However in the IPL 2026 auction list released he was incorrectly classified as an Indian player but BCCI later rectified the mistake and issued a revised list on Tuesday evening.
