IndiGo Flight Chaos: To help stranded travelers in the wake of numerous flight cancellations, Northern Railways’ Jammu division said Tuesday that it will operate a special Vande Bharat train between New Delhi and Udhampur for three days beginning December 12, according to an official.

Following the cancellation of the majority of IndiGo flights from the two aerodromes, which led to protests by stranded passengers, chaos reigned at the airports in Jammu and Srinagar during the previous few days.

For passenger convenience and safety, Jammu Division runs customized trains during emergencies. The division has now chosen to run a special Vande Bharat train between New Delhi and Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan (Udhampur) due to the growing number of passengers brought on by frequent aircraft cancellations, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said.

With three runs in each direction between December 12 and 14, the special trains, 02439 New Delhi-Udhampur Vande Bharat and 02440 Udhampur-New Delhi Vande Bharat, are intended to provide stranded passengers a secure and reasonably priced mode of transportation.

Singhal said, “This will ensure passengers reach their destinations on time and their travel plans are not disrupted.”

Train No. 02439 will leave New Delhi at 6:00 am and reach Udhampur at 2:00 pm. It will stop at many stations, including Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, Pathankot Cantt, and Jammu Tawi.

At 3:00 pm, Train No. 02440 will leave Udhampur and reach New Delhi at 11:00 pm. According to Singhal, there would be 20 coaches on the special Vande Bharat.

“Passengers are advised to check authentic train information through the official Indian Railways website or the NTES (National Train Enquiry System) app before commencing their journey,” he said.
