EV Policy 2.0: The Delhi EV Policy 2.0 will focus on three key areas. These include issues such as battery recycling, charging network, and public transport. Let's find out.
The Delhi government has prepared the draft of the Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2.0. A meeting of the Group of Ministers, chaired by CM Rekha Gupta, has been called today, Thursday (December 11, 2025), to discuss this. It will be made public only after the final discussion on this draft.
According to the information, the Delhi EV Policy 2.0 will focus on three key areas. More attention will be given to battery recycling, charging networks, and public transport.
What does the Delhi EV Policy 2.0 include?
The first objective of the Delhi EV Policy is battery recycling. Electric vehicles have a battery life of 8 years, and disposing of old lithium-ion batteries is a challenging task. Therefore, the draft proposes developing an organized battery recycling chain. This system is being implemented in Delhi for the first time.
The second objective of the Delhi EV Policy is to provide up to 50 percent subsidy on electric vehicles. This will allow people to convert their vehicles. According to the information, the government wants to give a 50 percent subsidy based on the market value of the vehicles, but the final decision will be taken in the cabinet.
Regarding the third objective, the government has set a target of establishing 5,000 public charging stations by 2030. Each station will have 4 to 5 charging points. These charging stations will be set up in market complexes, multi-level parking lots, government buildings, and offices.
When will the old EV policy end?
The government plans to implement this EV policy from the new year. For your information, the existing EV policy will expire on December 31, 2025. The first EV policy has been extended several times, but electric vehicle sales have not increased as expected. Therefore, a new policy is being formulated.
