Maharashtra Minister Eknath Shinde: Eknath Shinde, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, has taken an active role in the mayoral race in Mumbai. Since the unified Shiv Sena controlled the Mumbai mayoral election for 25 years, the election has traditionally been crucial to the Shiv Sena’s political identity. A new conflict with new dynamics has arisen as a result of the Thackeray brothers’ political reunification before to the BMC elections.
Shinde was questioned whether the Shiv Sena will be able to keep the position at a conference hosted by NDTV Marathi Manch. Shinde said that the Mahayuti will be the next mayor of Mumbai, but he refrained from making any claims.
The BJP has said that it is ready to let Shinde’s Shiv Sena take the mayoral positions in Thane and Mira-Bhayander, but not in Mumbai, according to an NDTV story that cited sources.
The BJP and the United Thackerays are anticipated to compete fiercely in the Mumbai mayoral race. Instead of upholding the Shiv Sena’s long-standing hegemony in the city, Shinde is seen as acting as a facilitator for the BJP.
The Mahayuti agenda is unambiguous: Shinde
Shinde said that all parties have the freedom to establish alliances when questioned about the Thackeray family reunion. “Our agenda is clear, development and welfare schemes.” Additionally, he emphasized his ideological heritage by stating, “We are following the ideology of Balasaheb Thackeray.”
According to reports, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region mayoral race is causing tensions between the BJP and Shinde’s Shiv Sena. Regarding suspected horse dealing, Shinde faction workers and BJP state president Ravindra Chavan got into a violent argument.
The partnership will last until 2029.
Devendra Fadnavis, the chief minister, has stated his faith in the BJP in the meanwhile. Additionally, he reaffirmed his intention to keep the partnership going. He said, “We are working to make the BJP ‘self-reliant,’ but the alliance will remain in place until 2029.”
