BBC Gardeners' World fans were left all making the same remark as they watched a guest speak to the show about his impressive indoor collection. Tom, a passionate houseplant enthusiast, invited the crew into his home. Viewers watched as he revealed a vast collection of begonias in his wife's office. Tom informed viewers that his plants help him stay focused and cope with his anxiety, and also stressed that the begonias require constant care. He also revealed that he bizarrely uses his wife's makeup brushes to help remove pollen from some of the houseplants.
One person reacted on X: "#gardenersworld anybody can do it? But i don't have a wife to borrow brushes from lol." Another also similarly echoed: "I wonder if Tom's wife knows he borrows her make-up brushes? #GardenersWorld."
A third person loved the collection and quipped: "I can imagine the work Zoom/Teams calls this chap's wife has: 'What's that you're growing in the office background?' 'Husband's begonias' 'Oh, is that a new street name for it?' #GardenersWorld."
Elsewhere in the episode, Adam Frost got on with some winter jobs. These included hellebores to plant, a sedum roof to repair, and a nest box that is in need of cleaning. He also encouraged viewers to grow their own horseradish and sowed broad beans for an early harvest.
Later on in the programme, Carol Klein opened the gates to a secret garden in Wiltshire that has never been seen by the public.
Jamie Butterworth also discovered how a gardener turned an empty field into a glorious display of perennials in the space of three years. Rekha Mistry also spent the day at an allotment site in Sheffield.
One person said on X: "What a lovely allotment site that was. Their "hub" looked like a great resource. #GardenersWorld."
A second person also commented: "Rekha loves that Sheffield allotment, community is the way forward."
