Kendrapada: In a shocking incident, a Class IX student was caught with a gun inside a government high school in Kudanagari area of Odisha’s Kendrapada district.

As per information, the incident came to light during a mathematics class when the student was found to be unusually distracted. When the teacher checked the student, the firearm was found concealed and the school authorities were informed.

Alarmed at the discovery, the headmaster reported the matter to the local police station and a team immediately reached the school and initiated a probe.

The firearm has been seized and sent for forensic testing to determine its origin and condition. The student was taken into custody and sent to a correctional home. Investigation is in progress.

Police are trying to ascertain as to how and from where the minor got the weapon and whether there are larger links to illegal arms circulation in the area.
