Mikel Arteta could be without eight Arsenal stars for this evening's Premier League clash against Wolves. The Gunners will be looking to strengthen their position at the top of the table, but Mikel Arteta may have to navigate that task without some key players.
Leandro Trossard and William Saliba have been hugely impressive this season but the duo have been dealing with muscular issues in recent weeks.
Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber have joined them as doubtsfor the weekend with the latter suffering a knock in the defeat to Aston Villa, while Rice was ill after that clash. Gabriel Magalhaes, Kai Havertz, Cristhian Mosquera and Max Dowman are the more long-term injury absentees with all four facing the possibility of not returning until 2026.
With all of that being said, football.london has rounded up the latest fitness updates before the Gunners welcome Wolves to Emirates Stadium.
Declan RiceRice missed the Champions League win over Club Brugge with illness.
What Arteta has said: "Let's see how he is today [Friday], when he was ill. An illness, normally, in a few days gets resolved. But we have to wait and see how far he can push."
Possible return date: Wolves (H) - Saturday, December 13.
Jurrien TimberTimber was also absent for the victory in Belgium. He travelled with his teammates, but was not named in the squad due to the knock suffered the previous weekend.
What Arteta has said: "It was a knock that he picked up and he wasn't feeling comfortable. So yeah, I think it's something, a matter of days. But whether it's tomorrow or not, we'll see."
Possible return date: Wolves (H) - Saturday, December 13.
Leandro TrossardTrossard appeared to suffer a recurrence of the injury, that had already kept him out for several weeks, at Villa Park last Saturday.
What Arteta has said: "Again, another one that is a matter of days. Sounds boring but it's the reality so we don't know. And if he's available or not."
Possible return date: Everton (A) - Saturday, December 20.
William SalibaSaliba has not played this month for Arsenal after suffering an injury in training ahead of the Chelsea draw.
What Arteta has said: "We have to wait and see. Yesterday we didn't train, he hasn't trained with us yet. So we have an extra day, which means it's afternoon. Let's see if he can be available or not.
"Obviously, if you ask me the Everton game [he would be available], if I think he will be fit for tomorrow, I don't know."
Possible return date: Everton (A) - Saturday, December 20.
Gabriel MagalhaesGabriel picked up a thigh injury on international duty with Brazil. He could return in late December, but seems more likely to be back in the New Year.
What Arteta said on December 2: "Big Gabi is doing very well, but that's weeks as well."
Possible return date: Late December 2025/early January 2026.
Cristhian MosqueraMosquera picked up an injury against Brentford and is expected to miss the coming weeks at the very least.
What Arteta has said: "He's going to be out for weeks. Unfortunately, it's much more than what we expected. But the player was feeling it, so he's going to be out for weeks."
Possible return date: January 2026.
Kai HavertzHavertz underwent surgery in August and has spent the last few months recovering.
What Arteta said on December 2: "Matter of weeks. Let's see how it evolves... He's doing really well, he's doing stuff on the pitch, but I think he needs some time. He was doing everything; he could not go to the next level. We are all desperate to have him."
Possible return date: January 2026.
Max DowmanDowman suffered an injury in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Manchester United under-21s last weekend.
What Arteta has said: "Max picked up an injury last weekend and had to come off. So he did some scans, and he is going to be out for weeks."
Possible return date: January 2026.
