Will Messi India Tour Cancelled: Argentine football star Lionel’s GOAT India Tour came into controversy on the very first day of its start. On December 13, a crowd of fans gathered at Kolkata’s Dumdum Airport to get a glimpse of him. The streets of the city were also filled with football fans. But Messi stayed in the Salt Lake Stadium for only 10 minutes, due to which the spectators present there went uncontrollable. People first started throwing bottles and then vandalized the ground. In such a situation, the question is arising whether this soccer star will be able to complete his tour or not.
The craze for football in Kolkata is very high, that is why every person present in the stadium wanted to see Messi to their heart’s content, but when despite so much effort, the Argentinian star appeared for such a short time, the anger of the crowd erupted. People spent anywhere from Rs 5,000 to lakhs to get tickets for this event, but it is natural to feel disappointed when the money gets wasted.
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has apologized for the incident, she wrote on Instagram, ‘I am very upset and shocked by the mismanagement that happened at the Salt Lake Stadium today. I was going to the stadium to attend the event along with thousands of sports lovers and fans who had gathered to get a glimpse of their favorite footballer Lionel Messi. I sincerely apologize to Lionel Messi, as well as all sports lovers and their fans for this unfortunate incident.
The CM further said, ‘I am forming an inquiry committee under the chairmanship of Justice (retd) Asim Kumar Ray, in which the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Hill Affairs Department will be members. This committee will investigate this incident in detail, fix responsibility and suggest measures to prevent such incidents in future. Once again, I sincerely apologize to all sports lovers.
After the uproar in Kolkata, there has been a threat to Messi’s safety, there was a huge crowd outside his hotel, which the police had to use force to remove. After Bengal, this football star is also visiting Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi. The Kolkata incident is a lesson for the governments of these states. If the state government itself fears mismanagement, then governments can take a decision to cancel the tour.
If Lionel Messi starts feeling a risk regarding his own security, then the team managing him can take a tough decision of canceling the tour. However, the organizers of Got India Tour would never want Messi’s India tour to be cancelled. Because due to this they will have to suffer a loss of several crores, in such a situation the fans may also have to return the ticket money.
