A popular UK seaside town is set to benefit from £20 million worth of investment over the next 10 years. The town, which has been ranked as the "best for a short break" in the UK, will be transformed as part of the government's Pride in Place programme.

Hastings, located in East Sussex, is known for its rich history and stunning coastline. As well as its old town, which features winding streets and timber-framed buildings, Hastings boasts a pretty seafront and traditional pier. Ambitious plans have now been confirmed to rejuvenate the town through a series of upgrades, including the revamping of community spaces.

As reported by The Sun, the £20 million project prioritises safer streets and refreshed public areas. It will also see improvements to sports, leisure, and play facilities.

Heritage sites across the town, which include Hastings Castle, the maritime Shipwreck Museum and the ancient Iron Age earthworks on East Hill, will also be set for restoration. The plans hope to create "a Hastings for everyone".

Deputy leader of Hastings Borough Council Julia Hilton (Green) said the upgrades will be shaped "in collaboration with local people". Meanwhile, local MP Helena Dollimore (Labour) praised the project for making Hastings "an even better place to live".

Hastings is considered an underrated seaside town to visit in the UK. It has a number of glowing reviews on TripAdvisor with visitors pointing out the beauty of the area as well as its suitability for families.

Wondering through the high street,George street all the little lanes, enjoying a pint of cider in the Filo. Best little pub in Hastings. Looking for the house shaped like cheese. The church covered with pebbles. Taking in the magnificent views on both the hills.

"My favorite is west hill looking down taking in the vista and the harbour arm. The lifeboat shop is a must. Wander down to Rockanore pop into the fisherman's museum and if you can buy some fresh fish from the fishmarket."
