2026 Maharashtra Holidays: Check full year list, weekend booster!

Even before the New Year arrives, the Maharashtra government has given a surprise. The state government has released the official list of public holidays for 2026. According to the notification of the General Administration Department (GAD), there will be a total of 24 public holidays next year in all government offices, undertakings, municipal corporations, councils and local bodies. On top of this, a special extra holiday has also been added on Bhaubij, which will fall on 11 November 2026. In this way, a total of 25 days of holiday will be enjoyed.

It was clearly stated in the notification that these 24 holidays will be applicable to every government office. There are holidays like Holi, Gudi Padwa, Ram Navami in March, Good Friday and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti in April. In May, offices will remain closed on Maharashtra Day and Buddha Purnima on the same day, Bakrid, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Dussehra and Diwali. Special thing: Extra holiday for Bhaubij – This is the festival of brother-sister love after Diwali, which is celebrated with great pomp in Maharashtra. This holiday on 11 November 2026 (Wednesday) will give a great chance for a long weekend.​

Separate gift for banks, special closure on 1st April

Apart from public holidays, separate holidays have been announced for banks. Only banks will remain closed on April 1, 2026 (Wednesday), this is for annual account closing and audit. Government offices will function normally on the same day, so that bankers will be able to settle their accounts easily.
