Greggs has opened its third new store in its smaller "Bitesize" format as part of its ongoing expansion across the UK.
The concept of a a smaller, more compact shop has just launched woth enables the bakery to serve more customers in busy, space-constrained locations with high footfall, such as railway stations.
The third Bitesize Greggs store has now opened in the popular designer outlet shopping destination, Cheshire Oaks. The mini bakery first made its debut in Kent with Sevenoaks Railway Station and Dartford Station following shortly after.
These smaller stores will have a limited selection of best-selling items at the same prices as regular stories. Rest assured classics like the sausage roll, steak bake, sweet treats, and Fairtrade hot drinks will still be on offer.
Bitesize Greggs is initially being run on a trial basis. More will follow, depending on how well these three perform.
The Cheshire store will be open seven days a week and has created 15 new jobs for the local area.
Tony Rowson, property director at Greggs said: "We're delighted to announce the opening of our third 'Bitesize Greggs' shop at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet.
"This busy shopping destination is a great location to continue to trial our new format to reach more customers on the go from compact units, whilst still offering a selection of our best-selling products."
This year, Greggs has averaged four new openings per week of its larger shops, on track to open 120 net new shops.
Last year, it announced its 2,500th shop. Now, there are over 2,675 across the UK - a feat the founder, John Gregg, might not have predicted when he opened his local bakery in Newcastle in 1939.
The news comes as a Greggs rival opened a store in the UK's busiest railway station. The Cornish Bakery is continuing its expansion in stations worldwide, with the Liverpool Street Station being its first London opening.
The rival bakery chain plans to open 40 new shops across UK in 2026.
