The Social Welfare Department of the Bihar government has launched an important initiative for persons with disabilities. The Directorate of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities has invited online applications for financial assistance to disabled candidates preparing for the civil services examination. Applications for this benefit have already begun.
Under the Disability Civil Services Incentive Scheme, disabled candidates who have passed the 71st Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination of the Bihar Public Service Commission will be given an incentive amount. This scheme applies to male disabled candidates belonging to the General Category, Economically Weaker Sections, and Backward Classes of the state. Under this scheme, eligible candidates will be provided an incentive amount of up to a maximum of Rs. 50,000.
Know when to apply
According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, the application process will be completely online. Interested and eligible candidates can apply from December 15, 2025, to January 14, 2026, by visiting the official portal of the Social Welfare Department, Bihar. Applications received after the stipulated date will not be accepted.
Disability is mandatory for the applicant.
To avail of this scheme, the applicant must be a permanent resident of the state. The applicant must be disabled, with a disability of at least 40 percent or more. It is also mandatory for the applicant to have passed the 71st Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission. The benefit of this scheme will be given only once. In addition, the applicant should not be employed or working in any government, semi-government, state, or central government-funded institution.

During the online application process, applicants will have to upload their photograph, signature, self-attested copy of the admit card, caste certificate, domicile certificate, disability certificate, Aadhaar card, and documents related to an active bank account. The bank account must be Aadhaar-seeded so that the incentive amount can be sent directly to the account through DBT.
Uploading an affidavit is mandatory.
Along with this, the applicant will also have to upload an affidavit stating that they have not received any such incentive amount previously and that they are not employed in any government service. This affidavit must be issued by a First Class Judicial Magistrate or Executive Magistrate. The applicant's email ID must be active, as all information related to the scheme will be communicated via email. Providing false information or being found ineligible will result in the application being cancelled. Legal action may also be taken in cases of fraudulently obtaining funds.
