Delhi School News: In view of the persistently severe air pollution in Delhi and the dangerously high Air Quality Index (AQI), the government has taken a major decision. Prioritizing the health and safety of children, physical classes for students from Nursery to Class V have been suspended with immediate effect until further notice. This decision will apply equally to all government, government-aided, and recognized private schools.

According to the order, classes for students from Nursery to Class V will now be conducted entirely in online mode. The government states that air pollution has a more severe impact on young children, potentially leading to respiratory problems and other health risks. This precautionary measure has been taken, keeping this in mind.

Classes above Class 5 to continue in physical mode
However, classes above Class 5 will continue as before, in accordance with the guidelines issued on December 13, 2025. School principals have been instructed to strictly adhere to these orders and inform parents immediately. Deputy Directors of Education have also been instructed to monitor the effective implementation of the order.

Commenting on this decision, Education Minister Ashish Sood said that the health and safety of children are the government's top priority. He said, “Considering the dangerous AQI levels in Delhi, the decision has been taken to suspend physical classes for students from Nursery to Class V and conduct classes in online mode. This is a necessary step to protect children from air pollution.”

The Education Minister also clarified that the government is continuously monitoring the situation and further decisions will be taken in the best interest of the students in the coming days, depending on the circumstances. Parents have also been asked to keep their children safe at home and avoid unnecessary outings.
