New Delhi: Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates held the title of the worlds richest man for five consecutive years from 2013 to 2017.  He remained among the worlds top 10 wealthiest individuals afterwards. However this year his net worth and ranking have seen a significant decline. Bloomberg Billionaires Index According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index Gates net worth has fallen by $41.3 billion this year and he is now ranked 16th on the list of the worlds richest people with a net worth of $117 billion. Gates is the only billionaire in the top 30 to have lost net worth this year. Before Gates Mexicos Carlos Slim was the worlds richest man from 2009 to 2012 while in 2008 it was Warren Buffett. After Gates the title of the worlds richest man was held by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos for four years. In 2022 Elon Musk claimed the title but the following year 2023 it went to Bernard Arnault of France. However in 2024 Musk made a comeback and reclaimed his position and he has held the title ever since. Prominent Names On Bloomberg Billionaires Index According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index Musk is the worlds richest man with a net worth of $638 billion. He is the first person in the world to reach the $600 billion mark and it is believed that he could become the worlds first trillionaire next year. This is because his company SpaceX is preparing to launch the worlds largest IPO next year. The companys valuation is expected to reach $1.5 trillion. Besides SpaceX Musk runs several other companies including Tesla and X (formerly Twitter). Bezos is fourth on the list of the worlds richest people with a net worth of $246 billion. Buffett is tenth with $152 billion Slim is 17th with $112 billion and Arnault is seventh with $202 billion. Larry Page co-founder of Googles holding company Alphabet is second with $265 billion and his partner Sergey Brin is third with $246 billion.
