Sports: Cameron Green has now become the most expensive foreign player in IPL history. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought him for Rs 25.20 crore. Green’s price was already expected to be high, but selling for this huge amount came as a surprise to everyone. On this occasion, Green expressed his happiness and also released a video message for KKR fans.
In the video, Green said, “Hello KKR fans, I am Cameron Green. I am very excited to be a part of the Kolkata team in the IPL this year and to play at the Eden Gardens. I hope this year will be great for us. See you soon. Aami KKR (I am KKR).” This video has been shared on the official ‘X’ handle of KKR.
Cameron Green has played two seasons of IPL. In 2023, he was a member of Mumbai Indians and in 2024, he was a part of RCB. In both these seasons, he scored 707 runs in 28 innings in 29 matches. His average was 41.6 and strike rate was 153.7. During this, he hit 62 fours and 32 sixes, which includes 1 century and 2 half-centuries. Green has not bowled in the IPL yet.
Talking about his T20 career, Green has scored 1334 runs in 63 matches at an average of 33.35. Additionally, he hit 111 fours and 63 sixes, and also scored 1 century and 8 half-centuries. In bowling also, he has taken 28 wickets at an average of 34.42.
Cameron Green has now become the most expensive player of IPL. Earlier this record was in the name of his teammate Mitchell Starc, for whom Kolkata had bid Rs 24.75 crore. But now Green is at the top of this list, while Starc is at second place.
There was competition for green between Chennai and Kolkata. Chennai bid up to Rs 25 crore for Green, but later decided to back out. This was the first time that CSK had made such a big bid.
