The central government has approved new Aadhaar rules. According to a report by news agency PTI, the government has also approved face authentication and purpose limitation requirements under the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP).
The implementation of these new rules for Aadhaar cards will bring about a major change. This will allow Aadhaar to be used for purposes other than government work. Under the new rules, private companies will also be able to legally use the system.
According to a Money Control report, UIDAI is preparing to launch all these changes in a redesigned Aadhaar app. These new rules are being introduced to enhance the use of Aadhaar in everyday life while maintaining privacy protection.
According to the report, the new rules will allow face authentication to be used for Aadhaar verification. Previously, face verification was prohibited in many government institutions.
How will face authentication work?
Aadhaar face authentication can play a crucial role when Aadhaar verification using eyes and fingers is not possible. Facial verification allows the physical presence of an Aadhaar holder to be recorded.
According to reports, with the help of these new rules, the presence of people in any event whose tickets have been booked in advance will become more secure than before.
These rules are expected to be implemented soon by the Indian government. Under the new rules, Aadhaar holders will have the right to choose which information they wish to share on their Aadhaar card.
These new rules will also give Aadhaar card holders the right to share their photo and age-related information at will. The government is implementing these new rules due to data privacy concerns.
