New Delhi: Mumbai Indians had a low-key outing at the auction as they acquired just five players. Among them South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock was the only experienced capped player added by the five-time champions. MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene described signing Quinton de Kock at his base price of Rs 1 crore as a lucky move For us Quinny was a part of MI in most of our franchises and in the past as well. We wanted to make sure we had depth in that crucial spot at the top of the order that gives us flexibility with our playing XI. Were lucky to have him with that experience. Jayawardene revealed he is pleased with the squad Jayawardene expressed his satisfaction with how the squad is coming together noting a mix of continuity from last year along with a hint of nostalgia Last year we were quite happy. At the back end we had quite a few injuries that put us off quite a bit from our best XI. Those were the areas we wanted to strengthen. Before going into the Auction with the trades we did we managed to plug few of those gaps. Overall we are very happy with what weve got if we don’t get serious injuries over the next three months because there is a lot of cricket to be played. Very happy.
