Railways Rules: Rail passengers will no longer have to wait until the last minute to know their ticket status. The Railways have changed the rules, allowing passengers to know the status of their waiting or RAC tickets well in advance.
Railways Rules: Getting a confirmed ticket on many Indian Railways trains is no longer easy. Millions of passengers travel every day, and a large number of people book waiting or RAC tickets, hoping that their ticket will be confirmed by the time the chart is prepared. However, this often doesn't happen, and the ticket remains on the waiting list until the last minute. In this situation, passengers are forced to pack their bags and go to the station.
And then, if the ticket is not confirmed, they have to return home disappointed. This problem was even worse before, as the reservation chart was prepared only four hours before the train's departure. Considering this difficulty faced by passengers, the Railway Board had changed the chart timing. Now, the Railways have taken another important step. Find out how many hours in advance you will know your waiting list status.
How many hours in advance will the reservation chart be prepared now?
According to the new decision of the Railway Board, the reservation chart for any train will now be finalized at least 10 hours in advance. Whether the train runs in the morning or at night, passengers will not have to wait until the last minute for the chart. Earlier, this chart was prepared four hours before the train's departure.
This caused considerable inconvenience to passengers. The time was then extended, but now further improvements have been made. Railway officials say that this change will allow passengers to know the status of their confirmed or waiting tickets in advance. This will enable people to decide in time whether to travel or not.
The rules have been changed
According to the new rules, for trains running between 5 AM and 2 PM, the first reservation chart will be prepared by 8 PM the previous evening. Earlier, this time was 9 PM. For trains running after 2 PM and before 5 AM the next morning, the chart will be prepared at least 10 hours before the train's departure. Earlier, this time was 8 hours. Railway officials have stated that the railway's IT unit, CRIS, has been informed of this change, and it will be implemented in a phased manner. This decision will benefit passengers with waiting list and RAC tickets the most. They will now receive information in advance and will be spared the trouble of going to the station unnecessarily.
