In winter, Vata dosha increases in the body, which is the cause of skin disorders. This increases the heat in the body and the skin starts becoming dry. Many remedies have been suggested in Ayurveda to cure cracked cheeks, the first method of which is Abhyanga. In this, oils are used to be applied on the face. For this, slightly lukewarm almond or coconut oil is applied on the affected area, which reduces dryness of the skin. If you do not want to apply oil on your cheeks, you can use desi ghee at night. It will penetrate inside the skin and provide moisture.

Second, one should avoid washing the face frequently and using hot water in winter. Use herbal face wash and lukewarm water to wash your face and do not forget to apply aloe vera gel or moisturizer after washing. This will help in keeping the cheeks soft.

Third, change in diet also provides adequate nutrition to the skin. First of all there is a need to eliminate inner dryness. For this, drink plenty of water and include coconut, ghee, oil, dates, almonds and warm milk in your diet.

Fourth, applying honey and aloe vera on the cheeks will also provide relief. Honey is most beneficial in reducing skin moisture and aloe vera will help in improving the complexion.

Now it is also important to know what precautions should be taken to avoid the problem of cracked cheeks. For this, avoid washing your face frequently, apply less make-up on the face, do not allow cold air to come directly on the face and apply moisturizer on the face before sleeping at night.
