Ramayana said: An episode of Ramayana, which is not only a story of bravery and strength, but also gives the divine message of dissolution of ego and identification of the divine element. This incident happened after Mother Sita's Swayamvar, when Lord Shri Ram showed his amazing bravery by breaking Shiva's bow. The terrible sound that echoed in the city of Mithila as soon as Shiva's bow broke, shook not only the earth but also the anger of the ascetic Parashurama. Hearing this sound, Lord Parshuram reached Janakpur in anger with an ax in his hand. He roared and said that whoever has broken this bow is my enemy just like Sahasrabahu.
Parshuram He could not believe that an ordinary prince could break Shiva's bow. To test the might of Shri Ram, he put forward his divine 'Vaishnav bow' (Sharang). He challenged, if you are really brave, then show it by stringing this bow of Vishnu, this was not just a test, but the identity of the incarnation. Parashurama knew that only a part of Lord Vishnu could hold the Vaishnava bow.
As soon as Shri Ram easily strung the Vaishnav bow and shot the divine arrow at it, the entire earth started shaking. As soon as the arrow went up, Parshuram's brightness started diminishing and he realized that Narayan was standing in front of him. Since this arrow was infallible i.e. which could not be taken back, Shri Ram smilingly put two difficult options in front of Parashuram. And said I will have to destroy one of your things.
Seeing the divine form of Lord Rama, Parashurama's ego was completely calmed down. He folded his hands and humbly requested to save his mobility power, so that he could continue his sadhana by going to Mount Mahendra. By releasing that divine arrow, Lord Rama destroyed all the virtuous worlds of Parashurama. After this incident, Parashurama bowed to Shri Ram and accepting that now the purpose of his incarnation was accomplished, he then went for penance.
