This is big news for millions of candidates preparing for the UGC NET. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the subject-wise examination schedule for the UGC NET December 2025 session. For candidates who have been waiting for this exam for a long time, the dates are now confirmed. The examination will begin on December 31, 2025, and continue until the first week of January 2026.
When will the UGC NET December 2025 exam be held?
According to the latest schedule released by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the UGC NET December 2025 examination will be held on December 31, 2025, January 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7, 2026. The examination will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode at various examination centers across the country.
The exam will be conducted in two shifts every day:
The first shift will be from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
The second shift will be from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Complete Subject-Wise Schedule Released
The UGC NET December session will conduct examinations for more than 80 subjects. Separate dates and shifts have been allotted for each subject. Some subjects will have their exams on the same day, while others are scheduled on different dates. Candidates are advised to check the correct date and shift for their subject from the official schedule.
How many papers will there be and what will the pattern be?
The UGC NET examination will consist of two papers. Paper-1 will be related to general aptitude, including questions on teaching aptitude, research aptitude, reasoning, and current awareness. Paper-2 will be based on the candidate's chosen subject. Both papers are conducted consecutively in the same shift. When will the Exam City Intimation Slip be released?
The exam city intimation slip for all UGC NET December 2025 candidates will be released approximately 10 days before the exam date. It is expected that this slip will be made available online around December 21 or 22, 2025. Through the city slip, candidates will be able to find out in which city their exam will be held, so that they can make their travel and accommodation arrangements in advance.
When will the Admit Card be released?
The admit card for the UGC NET exam will be released approximately 4 days before the exam. Candidates must note that the city intimation slip will not be considered as the admit card.
