Forest worker assaulted tribal youth, got serious injury, police did not file FIR, Umang Singhar targets the government

In Gram Panchayat Gobha of Singrauli district, Forest Department employees have been seriously accused of assaulting a Baiga tribal youth. The victim youth Lal Ji Baiga alleges that on December 9, 2025, Forest Department employees forcibly took him to the forest post, where he was brutally beaten in a closed room. In this incident the young man suffered serious injuries and one of his hands was broken. The victim’s family says that after the incident, they complained to the concerned police station and officials, but till now neither an FIR has been registered nor any concrete action has been taken against the accused employees.

Regarding this matter, Munilal Baiga, Secretary of Baiga Samaj Sangh, Madhya Pradesh (District Unit Singrauli), while submitting a memorandum to Collector Singrauli, has demanded to register a case against the guilty Forest Department employees under the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, suspend the accused and conduct an impartial investigation. The Baiga Samaj Sangha Sangh has warned that if appropriate action is not taken within seven days, an indefinite fast will be started by the Baiga Samaj at the district headquarters Singrauli.

Forest department officials expressed ignorance of the incident

On the same matter, Forest Department SDO NK Tripathi said – A crime case was already registered against the victim youth, under which he was presented in the court. He has got bail from the court. They have no information about what happened to the young man after this. If any incident of assault has taken place, it will be investigated and action will be taken as per rules.

Umang Singhar demanded strict action against guilty forest post employees.

Some local Congress leaders got the victim youth to talk to Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar and informed about the entire incident. While sharing the recording of this conversation on The victim was taken to the forest post and beaten in a closed room. This incident shows that exploitation of tribals continues under the BJP government. There is a demand from the District Administration and Superintendent of Police that strict action should be taken against all the guilty forest post employees.
