A sessions court has approved interim bail for TikToker Zaraq Nazir in a case involving the alleged illegal promotion of online trading applications. The case is being investigated by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
The hearing was conducted by Additional Sessions Judge Salman Mansoor Qureshi. The court ordered that Zaraq Nazir should not be arrested until January 6. It also directed him to formally join the investigation and cooperate with the inquiry.
The NCCIA has already registered a case against Zaraq Nazir over the alleged unlawful promotion activities on social media platforms. Investigators are examining his role and the nature of the content shared online.
Zaraq Nazir, a British-Pakistani TikToker, had earlier announced his intention to return to Pakistan to face the investigation. He said he was willing to cooperate with the authorities and expected to be treated fairly during the process.
He stated that he had previously avoided joining the inquiry due to serious concerns for his safety. According to him, there were fears of blackmail and physical harm. He also referred to past incidents involving other social media personalities, saying such cases had made him apprehensive.
Zaraq Nazir further claimed that he had witnessed the arrests of fellow content creators Rajab Butt and Nadeem Naniwala. He alleged that their mobile phones remained inaccessible for nearly two days following their detention.
He added that he plans to return to Pakistan on Monday. He said he had initially intended to travel back with Rajab Butt and Nadeem Naniwala, but they left without informing him.
