If you’re planning to buy a Samsung flip phone, this news is for you. Samsung is launching a flip phone with a slimmer body. Samsung made headlines in 2025 with the ultra-thin design of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, but early leaks suggest the company may shift its focus to its flip lineup next year. According to new rumors, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 could feature several significant upgrades. The Fold 8, on the other hand, will reportedly stick to more traditional, refinement-focused updates.

Flip 8 will come with a slim body

According to a report by GizmoChina, tipster @TheGalox_ claims that Samsung is working on a much thinner body for the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8. While no exact dimensions have been revealed yet, the move seems plausible. For comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which once folded resembles a phone, measures 8.9mm thick, while the Flip 7 measures 13.7mm when folded. Many of the Fold 7’s structural changes could be carried over to the next Flip model, making it significantly more attractive.

But what about the battery? The tipster says, “This will be the first time in many years that the battery size will remain the same or increase, but the battery will become thinner.”

In fact, thickness is one of the biggest issues with clamshell foldable phones, especially when folded and stored in a pocket. Any significant reduction in this would be a welcome change for everyday use.

The leaks also suggest improvements to the display, though details are still unclear. Samsung is continually improving its foldable panels each year, so this could include further crease reduction, improved durability, or improvements to brightness and efficiency.

In terms of performance, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to continue Samsung’s move towards in-house silicon. The device is rumored to come with the Exynos 2600 chip, which is likely to power the Galaxy S26 series as well.

In terms of launch timing, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is still expected to follow Samsung’s regular schedule, launching in the second half of 2026. There are currently no signs of delays or major production issues.

Still, this is just the beginning of the leak cycle, and details could change. But if the latest rumor is true, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 could prove to be a significant upgrade over its predecessor.
