Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has once again made headlines this time for his pointed remarks about film critic Anupama Chopra’s review of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar. Chopra had described the film as an “exhausting relentless and frenzied espionage thriller propelled by charismatic murderous men too much testosterone shrill nationalism and inflammatory anti-Pakistan narratives.” Her review sparked a strong backlash online leading her to eventually remove the video from YouTube. Chopra’s review had argued that while Dhurandhar features a strong cast and high-octane drama the mix of historical references fictional violence and frenzied storytelling made the film feel heavy and overwhelming. She felt the attempt to combine real-life terror events gang rivalries and cinematic action resulted in a “dangerous and clunky” cinematic experience.
