New Delhi: In the first semi-final of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 the Indian team delivered a stellar performance defeating Sri Lanka by 8 wickets. The match played at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai was reduced to 20 overs per side due to rain. Chasing a target of 139 runs India secured the victory with 12 balls to spare booking their place in the final. Sri Lankas innings falters from the start After losing the toss and being put in to bat first the Sri Lankan team had a disastrous start. Early wickets reduced their score to 28/3. Captain Vimath Dinsara and Chamika Hinatigala tried to stabilize the innings but wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. Ultimately a partnership between Hinatigala and Sethmika Seneviratne helped Sri Lanka reach 138 runs. Disciplined performance by Indian bowlers The Indian bowlers maintained their dominance throughout the match. Kishan Kumar Singh Deepesh Devendran and Kanishk Chauhan took crucial wickets in the early and middle overs. Henil Patel bowled effectively in the death overs preventing Sri Lanka from posting a large total. Vihaan and Georges match-winning partnership Chasing the target India suffered early setbacks losing two wickets for 25 runs. However Vihaan Malhotra and Aaron George then took charge. Both batsmen displayed a perfect blend of composure and aggression scoring unbeaten half-centuries and guiding their team to a comfortable victory. Undefeated India enters the final The Indian team remains undefeated in the tournament so far. After comprehensively defeating UAE Pakistan and Malaysia in the group stage India continued its dominance in the semi-final.
