As per the latest CBSE Class 10 exam pattern for 2025–26, the question paper will be structured as follows:
50% Competency-Based Questions
These include MCQs, case-study-based questions, source-based questions, and questions that test application of concepts.
20% Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
Objective-type questions designed to test conceptual understanding and quick decision-making.
30% Short and Long Answer Questions
Traditional descriptive questions to assess depth of knowledge and clarity of explanation.
This revised distribution ensures that students are tested on understanding, application, and expression, rather than just memory.
CBSE has also introduced clear section-wise divisions in major subjects, making it important for students to structure their answers carefully in the answer sheet.
Class 10 Science
The paper will be divided into three sections:
Section A: Biology
Section B: Chemistry
Section C: Physics
Students must write answers in the correct section to avoid confusion during evaluation.
Class 10 Social Science
The paper will have four sections:

Geography
Political Science
Economics
Answers must be written topic-wise in the designated sections, as per instructions.

80 marks for the theory exam
20 marks for internal assessment
Students must score at least 33% overall in each subject to pass.
