The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has announced major reforms for the UP Board Exams 2026, aiming to make the examination process more transparent, secure, and technology-driven. This year, the board has introduced digital entry of practical exam marks through a dedicated mobile application, along with mandatory CCTV surveillance and safe storage of video recordings at all examination centers.

These changes are part of UPMSP’s broader effort to curb malpractice, ensure fair evaluation, and strengthen trust in the board examination system.

Practical Exams Schedule for UP Board 2026

According to the official notification, UP Board practical examinations will be conducted from January 24 to February 9, 2026, ahead of the written board exams. The practical exams will be held in two phases, similar to previous years, but with stricter monitoring and new technological controls.

App-Based Entry of Practical Marks: What’s New?

One of the biggest changes this year is the introduction of an official mobile application for uploading Class 12 practical exam marks. Under the new system:

  • Practical marks for Class 12 students will be entered only through the app

  • Examiners must download the app on their mobile phones

  • The app link and login credentials will be provided before the examination

  • Marks can be uploaded only within a 200-metre radius of the exam center

  • The app will be connected to a location-tracking system to prevent misuse

  • Examiners can also register complaints directly through the app, if needed

This move ensures that marks are uploaded in real time, reduces the chances of manipulation, and creates a digital audit trail for every practical examination conducted.

CCTV Surveillance and Mandatory Recording

UPMSP has made it compulsory to conduct Class 12 practical examinations under CCTV camera surveillance. All schools and examination centers have been instructed to:

  • Ensure functional CCTV cameras during practical exams

  • Conduct exams strictly under camera supervision

  • Safely store the CCTV recordings

  • Provide recordings to the board whenever demanded for verification or investigation

The board has clearly stated that these measures are essential to prevent cheating, favoritism, or any form of irregularity during practical assessments.

Instructions for Principals and Examination Centers

The UP Board Secretary has issued detailed guidelines to school principals and examiners to ensure smooth implementation of the new system. Key instructions include:

  • Strict adherence to CCTV monitoring during practical exams

  • Safe preservation of video footage

  • Cooperation with external examiners and board officials

  • Immediate reporting of any irregularities

Failure to follow these guidelines may invite strict action from the board.

Evaluation of Special Subjects: Class 12

For Intermediate (Class 12) students, marks in subjects such as:

  • Moral Education

  • Yoga

  • Sports

  • Physical Education

will be uploaded online by the school principals on the board’s official website, following the prescribed procedure.

High School (Class 10) Practical and Internal Assessment

For Class 10 (High School) students, practical examinations will be conducted at the school level as part of internal assessment and project work. Similar to Class 12, marks for subjects like:

  • Moral Education

  • Yoga

  • Sports

  • Physical Education

will be uploaded online by the school principals.

The UP Board has announced that the official website for uploading internal assessment and practical marks will become active from January 10, 2026.

Why These Changes Matter

The UP Board conducts examinations for lakhs of students every year, making transparency and fairness crucial. By introducing:

  • App-based mark submission

  • Location tracking

  • CCTV surveillance

  • Secure video recording

the board aims to eliminate human error, reduce malpractice, and ensure equal evaluation standards across the state.

Final Takeaway for Students and Schools

The UP Board Exam 2026 reforms mark a significant step toward digital governance in education. Students can expect a fairer and more transparent evaluation process, while schools and examiners must strictly follow the new rules.

With tighter monitoring and technology-driven systems in place, the UPMSP is clearly signaling its commitment to maintaining the credibility and integrity of board examinations in Uttar Pradesh.
