On Friday, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) revealed the squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. Notably, former Indian captain Rohit Sharma is set to participate in two matches during this white-ball domestic tournament.
All-rounder Shardul Thakur will lead the Mumbai team in the tournament. However, key players such as Suryakumar Yadav, the T20I captain, and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal have been excluded from the squad.
The group stage of the Vijay Hazare Trophy is scheduled from December 24 to January 8, 2026. Mumbai is placed in Elite Group C, competing against teams like Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Himachal, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Goa, with matches set to take place in Jaipur.
The squad includes: Rohit Sharma (two matches), Shardul Thakur (captain), Hardik Tamore (wicketkeeper), Ishan Mulchandani, Shams Mulani, Musheer Khan, Tanush Kotian, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Tushar Deshpande, Sarfaraz Khan, Onkar Tarmale, Siddesh Lad, Sylvester Dsouza, Chinmay Sutarm, Sairaj Patil, Akash Anand (wicketkeeper), and Suryanash Shedge.
In a related announcement, the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) has also disclosed its squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The team features prominent players such as Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma, and Navdeep Saini. Rishabh Pant will take on the role of captain, marking his return to leadership in domestic cricket.
Ayush Badoni has been appointed as vice-captain. The inclusion of seasoned bowlers Ishant Sharma and Navdeep Saini enhances Delhi's bowling strength, while Virat Kohli's presence significantly boosts the batting lineup and provides essential leadership.
The squad for the first two matches includes: Ayush Badoni, Arpit Rana, Yash Dhull, Sarthak Ranjan, Priyansh Arya, Tejasvi Singh, Nitish Rana, Hritik Shokeen, Harsh Tyagi, Simarjeet Singh, Prince Yadav, Divij Mehra, Ayush Doseja, Vaibhav Kandpal, Rohan Rana, and Anuj Rawat.
