Simar Bhatia is all set to take her first big step into Bollywood with Ikkis a film that has already started creating buzz much before its release. The young actor will be seen sharing screen space with Agastya Nanda in this much-anticipated project directed by Sriram Raghavan. While the trailer has impressed many from the film industry Simar’s fun social media moment with Karan Johar has also caught everyone’s attention. The final trailer of Ikkis The final trailer of Ikkis was released on Friday December 19 and it quickly received love from actors filmmakers and fans alike. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on January 1 2026. For Simar this project marks her official debut in the Hindi film industry. Many may not know that she is Akshay Kumar’s niece and the daughter of his sister Alka Bhatia. Despite her film family background Simar seems keen on carving her own identity. Karan Johar’s warm welcome and Simar’s fun reply After watching the trailer Karan Johar shared it on his Instagram Stories and welcomed Simar to the film world. He wrote “SOLID!!!! Cheering for you Aggy!!!! Welcome to the film industry @simarbhatia18…you look stunning!!!” Simar reposted his story and responded with a witty line that quickly went viral. She wrote “Thank you sir. Phir mujhe Dharma ka picture kyun nahin diya?” Her playful humour was appreciated by fans who praised her confidence and sense of fun. Why is Ikkis a special film? Beyond being a launchpad for Simar and Agastya Ikkis holds deep emotional value. The film is based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal a Param Vir Chakra awardee who sacrificed his life at just 21 during the Battle of Basantar in the 1971 India-Pakistan War. Agastya Nanda plays the role of Arun while Dharmendra appears as his on-screen father Brigadier ML Khetarpal (Retd.). Dharmendra’s final on-screen appearance Ikkis also marks the last film of veteran actor Dharmendra making it a significant release for audiences. His sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol along with several Bollywood celebrities have publicly shown their support for the film. Simar in her debut role will be seen as Kiran the woman who holds a special place in Arun’s life.
