Haseen Mastan Mirza, daughter of late Mumbai underworld figure Haji Mastan, has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking justice in connection with her allegations of forced marriage, sexual assault, attempted murder, and illegal takeover of her property.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Haseen claimed that in 1996, when she was a minor, she was allegedly forced to marry her maternal uncle’s son. She alleged that the man repeatedly raped her, subjected her to physical and mental abuse, and misused her identity to seize her assets. According to her, the accused had been married eight times before.
Haseen said she had no support at the time and was too young to defend herself. “I was raped, my life was threatened, I was married off as a child, my property was taken, and my identity was hidden. If the laws are stricter, people will fear committing crimes,” she alleged. She further claimed that the trauma drove her to attempt suicide three times.
Her appeal came days after she posted a video on Instagram saying she has been seeking justice for years but has still not been heard.

Praise for the Triple Talaq Law
Haseen welcomed the Modi government’s legislation criminalising instant triple talaq, calling it an important step for women’s safety. She said the practice was being misused and demanded stronger laws for cases of sexual crimes and forced marriage to ensure swift justice.
Appeal to Stop Linking Father’s Name
She urged the media and public not to repeatedly bring up Haji Mastan’s name in relation to her case. “This is not my father’s story. All of this happened two years after he passed away. I am his daughter, but this is my personal struggle,” she said.
Haseen added that she believes the values her father taught continue to protect her, despite earlier alleged attempts on her life. She claimed that she was kept isolated from her family after marriage and only learned about her father’s death two years later, after which she was left alone.
Who Was Haji Mastan?
