It is reported that a committee of senior officers of General Administration, Finance, Home and Revenue Department has been formed which will reconsider the leave given to the employees every year, including voluntary ones. At present, no proposal has been included to implement 6-day working culture, that is, no consideration is being given to re-implementing the six-day working system, hence there is a possibility that the 5-day working rule will remain in force in 2026 also. However, official confirmation is yet to be made.

In fact, for the past several days, there has been speculation that the 5-day working rule in government offices may end from the new year i.e. January 2026, but according to the latest media reports, the system of fixing 5 days from Monday to Friday in the working week of government offices of the state can be continued by the state government even further, because the committee formed to reconsider the holidays did not include the proposal to change this 5-day working rule in its agenda. Is. This means that there will be only five working days in a week for the employees and two days will be holidays. This will benefit 7.5 lakh employees of the state. The system of five working days is already in force in the central offices.
5 day working rule system was implemented in 2020

Before the year 2020, government offices remained open on the second and third Saturdays. There used to be a holiday on the first and fourth Saturdays. On the other hand, the process of declaring government holidays for the year 2026 has also been completed. No special changes have been made in it. There is a possibility that the holiday calendar for 2026 may be released soon.
