EPFO's Big Decision Before ATM Withdrawals: Employee's Family to Receive at Least Rs. 50,000

EPFO Rules: The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has taken a major step for employees. Now, under the EDLI scheme, the employee's family will receive a minimum fixed amount upon the employee's death. They will receive at least this amount.

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is a crucial pillar of social security for millions of salaried employees in the country. Through facilities like PF savings, pension, and insurance, this organization provides support to employees and their families during difficult times.

The EPFO has taken a decision that can provide significant relief to the family in case of an employee's death. This decision by the EPFO is related to the Employee Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) scheme. Under this scheme, a fixed amount is given to the employee's family or nominee upon the employee's death.

The EPFO has now increased the minimum amount payable under this scheme, which will directly benefit more families. According to the new decision, the nominee or legal heir will now receive a minimum payment of Rs. 50,000 under the EDLI scheme.

Previously, in some cases, this amount was less. Now, the rule has been set that the minimum payment will not fall below this limit. The special feature of this decision is that the condition of 12 months of continuous service will not be required.

This means that even if the employee has not completed one year of service, their family will still receive the minimum benefit of the EDLI scheme. This will provide safety to the families of new employees as well. Moreover, even if the average balance in the employee's PF account is less than Rs. 50,000,

this minimum payment will still be provided. Earlier, in many cases, the amount was reduced due to a low balance. Now, with this step by the EPFO, every eligible family will receive the fixed minimum assistance. The EPFO is already working on several other facilities for employees.

While people were expecting facilities like ATM withdrawals from their PF accounts, this decision by the EPFO has provided considerable relief. Now, millions of EPFO employees across the country will benefit from this.
