Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav took a memorable catch in the 2024 World Cup. Since then, many questions have been raised about his lack of form in his batting. The Indian team has been consistently winning in the T20 format, but captain Suryakumar Yadav’s form is still a concern. Surya has been constantly changing his batting order over the last year, but it is affecting his batting.
Surya, who was once the team’s number one batsman in the T20 format, is now failing to put up big scores. His batting has often given the Indian team one-sided wins in many matches. During an event, Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav made a significant statement about his poor form.

The team has been selected for the 2026 T20 World Cup. Despite his poor form, Suryakumar Yadav will lead Team India in the tournament. Speaking about his form at an event at GLS University, captain Surya said, “I think sports teach a lot and there comes a time in every player’s career when he feels he is learning. So, it is a learning phase for me… but my 14 teammates are taking responsibility for me.
They know what happens when I get aggressive. I am very positive and hard working and I am sure you all do the same. If we don’t get good grades, we don’t give up. We work hard to get more marks. I do the same.”
Before the 2026 T20 World Cup, Team India will play a five-match T20I series against New Zealand at home. The series will start on January 21, 2026 and the final match will be played on January 31. India will play their first match in T20 World Cup 2026 on February 7. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav will need to score runs in the series against New Zealand to regain his form. Apart from Surya, all other batsmen seem to be in good form.
