People often feel less thirsty during the winter season. Due to cold, the body does not demand water frequently, due to which many people are satisfied by drinking only one or two glasses of water throughout the day. But this habit can be harmful for health. Even if you do not feel thirsty, it is as important to drink adequate amount of water in winter as in summer for the proper functioning of the body and internal cleanliness.

Be sure to drink about 2.5 to 3 liters of water a day.

According to experts, a healthy adult person should drink about 2.5 to 3 liters of water every day. If you find it difficult to drink plain cold water in winter, then lukewarm water can be a better option. Apart from this, coconut water, fresh juices of seasonal fruits, vegetable juices and home made soups also help in fulfilling the lack of water in the body. These not only keep the body hydrated but also provide essential nutrients.

Lack of water has the biggest impact on the kidneys. Kidney is the filter of our body, which filters the dirty elements from the blood and removes them through urine. When the body does not get enough water, the kidneys are not able to remove toxic substances properly. This increases the risk of kidney stone formation. Apart from this, there may be burning sensation during urination, infection and problems to frequent urination. The habit of drinking less water for a long time can weaken kidney function.

Negative effects on liver

Lack of water also has a negative effect on the liver. The main function of the liver is to help digest food and remove toxic elements from the body. Water is very important for this. When there is less water in the body, toxic elements start accumulating in the liver, which puts additional pressure on it. The blood becomes thick and the liver has to work harder to do its job. This can result in fatigue, swelling and lack of energy.
