The black business of fake degrees and marksheets has been exposed in Lucknow. Three accused including the PhD holder kingpin have been arrested. This interstate gang used to sell fake degrees like B.Tech, BCA, MCA for lakhs of rupees.

Lucknow. A sensational revelation has been made about the black business of fake degrees and marksheets in the capital Lucknow. Police have busted an interstate gang and arrested three accused including the kingpin. The surprising thing is that this entire network was being run by a PhD holder himself, who was extorting lakhs of rupees by showing the youth of the country the dream of getting a degree without any hard work.

Gang used to sell fake degrees of more than 25 universities

DCP East Shashank Singh told in a press conference on Sunday that this gang was preparing fake degrees and marksheets of more than 25 universities of the country. Fake degrees of courses like B.Tech, BCA, MCA were sold for Rs 25 thousand to Rs 4 lakh. These degrees were mainly used in private jobs.

Three accused arrested from Gomtinagar

On the information of the informer, the police conducted a raid in Gomtinagar area and arrested three members of the gang. The accused have been identified as gang leader Satendra (PhD holder), Akhilesh and Saurabh. Investigation revealed that the gang used to get fake degrees and marksheets printed in a printing shop located in Gomtinagar.

Fake degrees from renowned universities including Kalinga, Sabarmati

DCP East told that the accused Swami Vivekananda used to prepare fake degrees of many famous universities including Subharti, Kalinga, Sabarmati. A huge amount of money was collected from the students on the pretext of getting them a degree without examination and hard work.

923 fake mark sheets recovered in raid

A large quantity of objectionable material has been recovered during the police action. In this

  • Rs 2 lakh cash
  • a tata harrier car
  • 6 Laptops, 2 Harddisk, 1 Printer, 1 CPU
  • Contains 15 mobile phones, 2 registers, 5 chequebooks/passbooks.

Used to make innocent students victims

During interrogation, the accused confessed that they used to cheat innocent students by luring them with the promise of getting a degree without any hard work. Police have registered a case against the three accused in Gomtinagar police station under sections 319(2), 318(4), 338 and BNSS.

Police busy investigating the entire network

DCP Shashank Singh said that this gang was working on a very large scale and its links may be connected to other states also. The police are now busy investigating the entire network and more arrests are likely to be made soon.
