Saumya Tandon opens up about slapping Akshaye Khanna In Dhurandhar, reveals It was ‘real’: ‘Done in a single take…’

Ever since Aditya Dhars Dhurandhar hit the theaters people have not stopped talking about the film. From its layered characters impeccable performance to its strong storyline the film has been creating a buzz all over social media. From Akshaye Khannas entry dance to many other moments there are some scenes from the film that have stayed with the audience long after the film ended. One such moment from the spy thriller Dhurandhar has been drawing attention ever since its release. This scene was when actor Saumya Tandon slaps Akshaye Khannas character in the film. Speaking about that she has revealed that this emotional scene involving Akshaye Khanna was shot with complete authenticity including a real slap.
A Real Moment Caught On Camera
Dhurandhar which hit theaters on December 5 has been receiving praise from audiences across the country. Directed by Aditya Dhar the film stars Ranveer Singh R Madhavan and Akshaye Khanna in pivotal roles. Saumya Tandon plays Akshaye Khanna’s wife in the film and one intense scene where her character slaps him after a personal tragedy has particularly stood out.
Speaking about that scene Saumya reveals that the slap seen on screen was real and was completed in a single take. She explained that the director wanted the moment to feel genuine and emotionally raw.
Behind-The-Scenes Revelation
Taking to her X account on Sunday Saumya shared behind-the-scenes pictures from the shoot and opened up about the emotional process behind filming the scene. Along with a picture featuring her discussing the scene with Aditya Dhar and Akshaye Khanna she wrote “1. This was my entry scene in the film and the amount of love it has received has truly overwhelmed me. In this scene I felt everything at once- anger towards my husband for being the reason behind our son’s death helpless desperation and the deep shared pain between us.”
She further revealed how the slap was executed adding “And yes I slapped Akshay once-for real- his close-up after Aditya insisted it had to be authentic. I was hoping to cheat but no such luck. My breakdown close-up was done in a single take.”
A Scene Rooted In Personal Grief
Saumya also shared another emotional still from the film which showed her sitting on the floor in prayer. Explaining the moment she wrote “2. This was the prayer meeting after my son’s demise. The pain I felt in that moment stayed with me—it came straight from the heart.”

Dhurandhar is based on the story of an Indian spy named Hamza who infiltrates Pakistan deeply to join Rehman Dakaits gang. The film is inspired by real-life events including the 2001 Parliament attack and the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. The second part will be released in theatres on March 19. 2026.
