Pat Cummins said he will probably miss the Boxing Day Test against England as Australia have already won the series and kept the Ashes. On Sunday December 21 the home team went 3-0 up after the third Test at the Adelaide Oval continuing their strong record of winning 16 of their last 18 home matches against England. Cummins did not play in the first two Tests in Perth and Brisbane as he was coming back from a back problem. After returning for the Adelaide Test the Australian captain said he wants to think carefully before taking any chances since the series is already decided. His remarks also indicate that Australia are not too worried about where they stand in the 2025–27 World Test Championship cycle. Im feeling really good [but] as for the rest of the series well wait and see. We had a pretty aggressive build-up knowing that its the Ashes there to be won and we thought that was worth it. Now that the series has been won there might be a sense of jobs done and lets reassess the risk Cummins said in the post-match press conference. Well work it out over the next couple of days I doubt Ill be playing Melbourne and then well have a chat about Sydney. But certainly before the series it was while the series was live lets take on the risk and have a crack at it now its done I think well need to have a chat about it Cummins added. Cummins had an impressive performance in Adelaide taking six wickets including two spells where he picked up three wickets each. Australia are sitting at the top of the World Test Championship standings with a perfect 100 percent points rate after winning all six of their matches so far. After completing a 3-0 series win against the West Indies earlier this year the team is now looking to repeat the result against their long-time rivals England. The Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground begins on December 26 with the New Year’s Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground set to start on January 4.
