It is written in our scriptures that one should not eat food after sunset because cholesterol, kidney disease, cancer cells etc. develop at night only.
If you eat food at night, the body's energy will be spent in digesting the food and these diseases can increase rapidly. These cells self-destruct when hungry.
Therefore, one to two fasts in a month are necessary. Apart from this, eat rice only once a week. If you feel hungry at night, you can take half a cup of milk or an apple.
