This year, while the fees for Aadhaar updates were changed, a new and super-secure Aadhaar app was also launched.  Many tasks can now be done from the comfort of your home using this app.

In India, the Aadhaar card has become one of the most important identity documents. From opening a bank account to availing government schemes, an Aadhaar card is required for almost every important task. Therefore, any new system or change related to Aadhaar directly affects millions of citizens of the country.

The year 2025 proved to be quite significant for the Aadhaar system. This year, the government and UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) implemented several major changes to make the Aadhaar card more secure, digital, and user-friendly. The purpose of these changes is not only to increase identity security but also to make Aadhaar-related services simpler and more convenient. This year, while the fees for Aadhaar updates were changed, a new and super-secure Aadhaar app was also launched. Through this app, many tasks can now be done from home. So let's find out today what major changes were made to the Aadhaar card in 2025.

These 2 Major Changes Made to Aadhaar Card This Year

1. Increase in Aadhaar Card Update Fees - A major change has been seen in the Aadhaar card update fees in 2025. Services that were previously available at a lower cost will now cost more. Earlier, updating biometric information on the Aadhaar card cost Rs. 100. This fee has now been increased to Rs. 125. Biometric updates include fingerprints, iris scans, and photo updates. This change will particularly affect those who need to update their fingerprints or photos due to age or technical reasons. The fees for demographic updates have also increased. Earlier, updating name, address, mobile number, or other information cost Rs. 50. A fee of Rs 75 has now been fixed for this service. This includes services such as name correction, address change, and mobile number update. UIDAI says that this fee increase has been implemented to improve the system and enhance the quality of services.

2. UIDAI Launches New Super Secure Aadhaar App - The second and biggest change of 2025 is the new Aadhaar app. UIDAI has launched a modern and secure Aadhaar app this year, which is proving to be very useful for people. A digital version of the Aadhaar card can be securely stored in this app. Now you won't need to carry your physical Aadhaar card everywhere. The app features advanced security features, ensuring that your data remains completely safe. Instant Aadhaar verification is available through a QR code. This app will significantly reduce the possibility of identity theft and fraud.

Facility to Update Mobile Number from Home

Another major facility has been provided through this new Aadhaar app. Now you can update your mobile number linked to Aadhaar from the comfort of your home. There is no need to visit an Aadhaar service center. The mobile number can be updated through the Aadhaar app. This will save both time and money. UIDAI has also stated that facilities such as address update, name update, and email ID update will also be introduced on this app in the future.
