Noida night shelters: The number of persons seeking refuge at night shelters (rain baseras) established by the district administration at different sites is steadily increasing as chilly temperatures tighten their hold across the NCR. As temperatures have dropped in recent days, more and more homeless people and bystanders are staying overnight in these shelters.
Over the last three days, the number of individuals living in night shelters in Noida has increased gradually, with between 20 and 25 people seeking refuge each night. As a significant center for education and industry, the city draws job seekers from other states, many of whom are now depending on these shelters throughout the winter season. The Delta Community Center’s night shelter is one of those that sees frequent traffic. The caretaker said that individuals arrive about 10 p.m. and go around 8 a.m.
In the meanwhile, the District Magistrate has fixed the issues found during a surprise inspection of night shelters three days ago. The District Magistrate was unhappy with the inadequate sleeping conditions during the inspection since the bedding was placed right on the floor. He gave authorities instructions to set up cots right away, and as a result, the shelters now had beds.
Administrative teams have been visiting all facilities on a regular basis since the inspection to make sure they are in good shape. Safety and cleanliness are being constantly watched. According to Active Citizen team member Harendra Bhati, authorities are inspecting the shelters’ bathrooms, electrical wiring, lights, beds, and availability of clean drinking water.
Social professionals and people from a variety of industries have also come out to provide their support to the project. Residents are cooking tea and breakfast at home and delivering it to the night shelters to keep the homeless and impoverished warm during the very cold winter months.
