When watching YouTube Shorts, if you don't like a video, you quickly hit the dislike button. But now, doing so is going to become a little more difficult. YouTube is making a major change to its platform, which will not only change the location of the dislike button but also completely alter how it works. This new design is currently being tested and may soon appear on your phone.

One Button, Two Functions
According to the latest reports, YouTube is preparing to combine the 'Dislike' and 'Not Interested' buttons. This means they will no longer be separate buttons. The company believes that many users didn't understand the difference between the two, so they are being merged to eliminate this confusion. Now, you will be able to express your dislike with a single button.

Button Hidden Behind Three Dots
Until now, the dislike button was visible right below or next to the like button, but now it will disappear from the screen and be moved inside the 'three-dot' menu. This means that if you want to dislike a Shorts video, you will first have to open the menu and then select the dislike option there. This step will make it easier for YouTube's algorithm to understand what kind of content you don't like, so that it can show you only the content you prefer in the future.

User Preferences Being Prioritized
YouTube says that this change is being made to further improve the Shorts viewing experience. Previously, YouTube had experimented with completely hiding the dislike button. The goal of this new update is to improve the interaction between the user and the algorithm. If you dislike a video through the menu, the system will immediately understand that you didn't like that topic, and similar videos will be removed from your feed.
