What is the story of Christmas: Christmas festival is celebrated every year on 25 December. The date of 25th December is not far away. Christmas is a very special and important festival of Christians. On this day people decorate their houses. Let's put up a Christmas tree. We give gifts to each other and wish happiness in life, but many times this question comes in the minds of people that why is the festival of Christmas celebrated only on 25th December?
It is said that Christmas is celebrated on 25th December because Christians believe that Jesus Christ was born on this day. Although the Bible does not mention the exact date of Jesus' birth, in the fourth century the Roman Emperor Constantine officially recognized December 25 as the birthday of Jesus Christ. After this, Christmas started being celebrated in the Christian community on 25 December.
According to an old belief, Gabriel, an angel of God, came to a young woman named Mary. The angel of God asked Mary to give birth to the Son of God, but Mary was a virgin at that time. Then time passed and Mary got married to a young man named Joseph. After this, God's angel Gabriel came in Mary's dream and told her that she would soon become pregnant. Their future child is Lord Jesus himself. Mary lived in Nazareth, a part of the Roman Empire at that time.
Once Joseph and Mary had to go to Bethlehem for some work. In those days, many people had come from there, due to which there was no space to even set foot in any of the dharamshalas and shelters. Mary and Joseph found a place in a stable. Lord Jesus was born at the same place at midnight. Later Jesus traveled around Galilee and preached.
Jesus was tortured a lot during this journey. And he was killed by hanging him on the cross. When he was being crucified he said, 'Father, forgive these people because they have no knowledge.'
