PAN-Aadhaar Link
If you have not yet linked your PAN card with Aadhaar, then negligence can cost you dearly. The government has made it clear that 31 December 2025 is the last date. After this i.e. from January 1, 2026, PAN will become inactive. As the deadline is approaching, concern among taxpayers is increasing.
The Finance Ministry has issued an official notification in this regard and made it clear that those who were earlier issued PAN on the basis of Aadhaar Enrollment ID, are now required to tell their Aadhaar number to the Income Tax Department. The aim of the government is to make the tax system transparent and to stop fake or duplicate PAN.
If your PAN is not linked to Aadhaar and it becomes inactive, then you will not be able to do many important things. It will become difficult to file income tax returns, many bank related transactions may get stuck and work related to investment or property may also get hampered. Overall, everyday financial activities may be affected.
If PAN becomes inactive, there is no need to panic, but it will definitely affect your pocket. To reactivate PAN, Aadhaar will have to be linked and a fine of Rs 1,000 will also have to be paid. Therefore, it is better to link in time and avoid extra expenses.
The good thing is that the process of linking PAN and Aadhaar is very easy. For this you do not need to go anywhere. This work can be done in a few minutes by visiting the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department. The special thing is that both registered and unregistered users can use this facility even without logging in.
A quick link option is provided on the home page of the e-filing portal, where PAN and Aadhaar information has to be filled. After verifying the necessary details, OTP comes on the mobile. As soon as you enter the OTP, your linking request is submitted. After completion of the process, you also get confirmation.
It is often seen that people postpone such work till the last date, due to which the problems increase due to slow server or technical problems. Therefore, the advice is that do not wait for 31st December 2025 and be rest assured by linking PAN-Aadhaar now.
Linking PAN-Aadhaar is a small task, but ignoring it can cause big loss. By completing this process on time, you will not only avoid fines, but will also be safe from any financial hindrance in future.
