New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to closely review the Indian Under-19 team’s performance after their heavy 191-run defeat against Pakistan in the U19 Asia Cup final. The loss has raised concerns ahead of the upcoming ICC Under-19 World Cup scheduled for early 2026. BCCI Apex Council Decides on Review The decision was taken during an online Apex Council meeting held on Monday evening December 22. During the discussion members assessed India’s overall campaign in the tournament and agreed that a detailed review was necessary following the one-sided final. Management Coach and Captain Under Scanner As part of the review process the BCCI is expected to seek explanations from the team management. In addition to the routine report from the team manager the board is likely to hold direct discussions with head coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar and captain Ayush Mhatre which indicates a more serious evaluation than usual. Questions Over Conduct and On-Field Issues Reports have also emerged regarding player conduct during the final although it is still unclear whether this will officially be included in the review.
