Tata Motors has consistently played an important role in this transformation. Since launching the Nexon.EV, India’s first mainstream electric car, in 2020, Tata.EV has led the way in the market. The Nexon.EV has been the pioneer of this transformation, becoming the first electric car in India to cross the 100,000 mark in total sales.
Tata Motors accounts for about two-thirds or 66 percent of the total electric passenger vehicles sold in India today. This achievement testifies to the company’s long-term vision, strong leadership and strong commitment towards sustainable nation building. Tata.EV’s ownership is now not limited to metros and has reached more than 1,000 towns and cities across the country. About 84 percent of Tata.EV customers use their EVs as their primary vehicle, underscoring the reliability of EVs in everyday use. In addition, more than 26 percent of Tata.EV customers are first-time car buyers, indicating a growing adoption of electric vehicles among new customers as well.
According to actual usage statistics, Tata EV Owners drive an average of around 20,000 kilometers per year, while nearly 26,000 customers have driven more than 100,000 kilometers. Consumer confidence is also increasing in long-distance travel, with about 50 percent of Tata.EV owners having traveled at least once for a distance of more than 500 km. The Tata.EV has proven to be fully highway ready by successfully plying every major state as well as national highways in India.
Collectively, Tata.EVs have covered around 12 billion kilometers so far, avoiding approximately 1.7 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions and saving around 800 million liters of fuel. Which is a significant contribution towards environmental protection.
Tata Motors is accelerating India’s EV revolution through a robust and comprehensive ecosystem. Tata.EV network currently has over 2 lakh charging points available through home charging, community charging and partner CPOs. Tata.EV’s charging aggregator provides the widest coverage in the country with over 20,000 registered public charging points.
Besides, Tata.EV’s network of superfast chargers is also one of the largest in the country. There are currently 100 megacharging hubs operational across major corridors in India, with each hub offering up to 16 charging points and 120kW+ charging speeds.
The Tata.EV ecosystem has the largest network of EV-dedicated service outlets across the country, with around 1,500 bays reserved exclusively for electric vehicles. This service system is supported by over 5,000 specially trained EV technicians, ensuring expert level maintenance for every Tata.EV vehicle.
