One famous family faced absolute heartbreak after tragedy struck, leaving three children orphaned. Alan Plummer, the widower of late Australian TV host Erin Jayne Plummer, died in Freshwater, Sydney at the age of 49, last November.
His death came just two years after his wife's suicide, leaving their three children without any living parents. A source close to the situation described his death as "tragic", as reported by Mail Online. A statement from a NSW Police Force spokesperson confirmed to the publication: "Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner regarding the death of a 49-year-old man at Freshwater on Sunday." Alan was discovered dead on one of Sydney's northern beaches on November 10, 2024. An insider told the Daily Mail that the incident was "tragic". Alan was the former director of Shine VIP Tours in Australia - a company that is now defunct. He had sold his family home just two months before his death - a four-bedroom house in Freshwater, which they had owned for over 20 years.
They initially purchased the property back in 2002 for $675,000, and put it up for sale in March 2024.
Erin's tragic death at the age of 42 followed struggles with mental health issues. The Studio 10 star, who also hosted an aerobics TV show for six years, represented her country in synchronised swimming, securing 11 national titles.
The family set up a GoFundMe appeal shortly after her passing to employ a gardener and housekeeper to assist in "keep the household running", successfully raising almost $28,000 at the time.
Her Studio 10 colleagues Sarah Harris and Angela Bishop were given the responsibility of sharing the tragic news of Erin's death, informing viewers: "Over the weekend, Studio 10 lost a little bit of sparkle with our friend and advertorial host Erin Jayne passing away suddenly.
"For two decades, Erin Jayne has been a friendly and familiar face on Australian television, for a lot of that she's been brightening up our mornings with her bubbly personality and megawatt smile."
Sarah remarked "Erin was just a gorgeous human inside and out and if it wasn't for TV, Erin Jayne perhaps might have had a sporting career.
"She represented Australia in synchronised swimming and even surf life saving. There is no question Erin Jayne was a high achiever and certainly a gold medal mum to her three young girls.
"We'll miss your sunshine around the studio Erin Jayne, and all of us here are sending lots of love and strength to her family."
