New Delhi: SS Innovations International (SSII), the developer of Mantra, the first surgical robotics system developed indigenously in India announced the successful completion of 100 robotic telesurgies with the platform and commemorated the milestone by hosting India’s first marathon robotic telesurgery, where over 10 telerobotic surgeries were performed in a single day. The marathon serves as a real-world clinical validation of the SSII Mantra platform, demonstrating its precision, safety and scalability across multiple surgical specialties. The initiative also highlights the growing role of robotic telesurgery in bolstering the healthcare infrastructure, and providing specialised healthcare to remote and underserved regions across the country.

Founder, Chairman and CEO of SSII, Sudhir Srivastava said, “Completing 100 telesurgeries with SSII Mantra represents a defining moment for Indian medtech innovation. This Marathon Robotic Telesurgery is a real clinical demonstration of scale precision and reliability. Our mission is to ensure that advanced surgical care is no longer restricted by geographies and that world class expertise developed in India can reach patients everywhere through safe and dependable technology.” Robotic surgery requires smaller incisions, that improves patient outcomes and reduces recovery time. The surgeon operates from a console, that can be located anywhere in the world. SSII has previously conducted the first intercontinental telesurgery in the world with the SSII Mantra.

Surgeries represented a wide range of specialties

The surgeries conducted during the marathon represented a wide range of specialties. Medical Director and Chief of Uro Genito Oncology Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, Sudhir Rawal said, “Robotic telesurgery using SSII Mantra enables precise and timely cancer care for patients who may otherwise lack access to specialized surgical expertise. This milestone reflects a meaningful shift in how oncology care can be delivered at scale.” President IRCAD India and Director of Bariatric Surgery Mohak Bariatrics and Robotics, Mohit Bhandari added, “This achievement establishes telesurgery as a practical and scalable solution rather than a future concept. It demonstrates how complex procedures can be decentralized without compromising clinical outcomes.” Bhandari had previously conducted the first bariatric telesurgery in the world using the SSI Mantra.

Managing Director and Head of Urology at Preeti Urology and Kidney Hospitals, Hyderabad, Chandramohan Vaddi said, “The consistency and responsiveness of the SSII Mantra system during telesurgery strengthens surgeon confidence and expand the scope of remote complex urological procedures.” Consultant Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon at Manipal Hospital, Lalit Malik added, “High precision specialties such as cardiac surgery demand absolute reliability. The performance demonstrated by SSII Mantra highlights its robustness and growing relevance for advanced remote cardiac care.” Senior Bariatric and Robotic Surgeon at Apex Hospital in Moradabad, Magan Mehrotra said “This Marathon Robotic Telesurgery illustrates how indigenous technology can bring advanced surgical care closer to patients in smaller cities and underserved regions making healthcare not just accessible but also affordable for the masses.”
